At 8:00
a.m. yesterday morning, MCCCD officially began to use SIS as colleges
entered
data and performed transactions accumulated from last week’s down time.
Today
SIS is up and running for all users—faculty, staff, and students. The
current
hours of operation are 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Here is a
quick update and what to expect this week.
- First of all, kudos
need to be extended to the project and college staff who have worked
long hours over the holiday weekend—especially the district team—for a
successful system conversion and launching of SIS.
- During this “break in”
period it is expected that issues will come up with the system. Each
college has established a help desk process for both functional users
and student and faculty self-serve. Please use your college process to
resolve problems as this allows project and college SIS leadership to
track and monitor issues at the system level.
- In general, the types
of problems reported can be considered “routine” and, in most
instances, have been resolved or are in the process of being resolved.
Currently project leadership is responding to issues related to:
accessing and sequencing of the reporting database runs, some minor
security issues, a number of business process clarifications, and guest
access to the class/course search tool. Guest access to the
class/course search tool may be turned off until this issue is
resolved. However, class/course access is available to users logged
into the system.
- Significant student
communication will commence on February 21 through the following
strategies: on-campus posters and fliers, direct paper and email, and
distribution of wallet-sized information cards.
- College and project
leadership will continue to monitor system performance and use through
twice-daily conference calls.
- The launch of SIS is
truly an example of the One Maricopa spirit as colleges have come
together to forge common business practices. College and district
leadership continue to collaborate to resolve challenging problems and
provide the ultimate outcome of universal student access.
- Look for continued
updates through out the week.
