FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
REGARDING THE FEP
|
Q: I have never done an FEP and need basic
information.
A: Contact your college Resource Person. He/she
has information packets and can answer any questions you may have. You
may also check the Faculty Association web site:
www.maricopa.edu/org/faculty/fep.html
|
|
Q: Who, exactly, qualifies as a "peer?"
A: For purposes of the FEP, "peer" is interpreted
in the broadest sense. Anyone, with the exception of family members,
that the faculty member feels would be appropriate can qualify as a
"peer."
|
|
Q: How soon may I start working on my next FEP?
A: Anytime, in fact it is advised that faculty
begin planning their focus at least the summer preceding the fall when
faculty are officially notified that they are to begin their FEP.
|
|
Q: I have heard that faculty can choose to be
evaluated by the "old plan." That is having classroom visitations by
the appropriate Vice President, Division/Department Chair, and a peer.
Is this true?
A: A faculty member can choose classroom
visitations as a way of defining their focus. The differences are; 1)
Only two team members need to visit the class, neither of whom need to
be an appropriate Vice President or Chair, unless this is what the
faculty member wants, and
the appropriate Vice President and Chair agree to be team members; 2)
The faculty member can
choose any standard criteria to be used by those doing the classroom
visit, or he/she may design his/her own criteria; 3) The FEP
Summary/Endorsement sheet must be filled out and handed in according to
the RFP guidelines.
|
|
Q: I know that student or service recipient
evaluations are required, but are there any rules I have to follow?
A: See Appendix D of the FEP document.
|
|
Q. What is the procedure after I have completed my
FEP?
A:
- Turn in your FEP
Areas of
Evaluation (Student Evaluations optional)
documentation to at least one of
your team members and get signatures from both
of your team members.
- If you wish, you
may turn
in everything to your chair for signature, but all that is required is
for the Summary/Endorsement sheet to be filled out.
- In addition to
the
required Summary/Endorsement sheet, you may hand in any part or all
that you have prepared for your FEP to the appropriate Vice President.
The date
on the Summary Sheet must be the date you hand your FEP into the
appropriate Vice President.
A copy of your Summary/Endorsement sheet, signed by the appropriate
Vice President, and any
additional documents come back to you.

|
Q: Do faculty on 49% need to do an FEP?
A: No, because they are not presently covered in
the RFP.
|
|
Q: Do faculty on "One Year Only" contracts need to
do an FEP?
A. Each college has their own policy on this,
since One Year Onlys are not covered in the RFP.
