CEC recently discussed the issue of having demographic data in the hiring process.  An audit of the demographic makeup of the applicant pool can only be requested at the very beginning of the process if it is thought that the pool is not diverse enough.  After the hiring process begins, however, an audit may not be requested or hiring stopped for the reason that the finalists are not diverse.  Council discussed how audits are performed.  CEC discussed the unfinished issue of a ruling on students under eighteen years of age being able to attend community colleges, given the elimination of the State Board.  Council discussed the issue of the District spending one to two million dollars on electronic signs when the District cannot commit to money for salaries.
