Jamie Moore reported that work continues on preparing for the strategic conversation on shared governance.  Jamie said the work includes developing a definition of shared governance, an "ice-breaker" activity, and other subtopics.  Jamie asked that the shared governance surveys be sent to her.  Sandra Stuebner discussed with Council a MEMO exchange between her and Linda Rosenthal regarding strategic conversations.  Council discussed the Governing Board's current strategic conversation format and its effectiveness.  Council discussed whether to attend that evening's strategic conversation and to host the October strategic conversation.  A point was made that Council should view and assess these strategic conversations in light of public relations and overall goals.  Council discussed creating a new model for strategic conversations and presenting that new model during the October strategic conversation on shared governance.  A suggestion was made that shared governance be evaluated one year from October and that the AAUP model be used for the strategic conversation.
