Council was reminded that on October 6^th, Council would hold a retreat with the Instructional Council Chairs in the Governing Board Room from 2:00pm until 4:00pm.  Three areas of input will be discussed: the roles of the Instructional Councils, the membership of the Instructional Councils, and the assessment and curriculum process.  Naomi Story recalled that last year Council wanted to meet regarding faculty issues with the Instructional Councils in a forum that was not driven by the administration.  She said that there were concerns that the curriculum committee and academic advising were administration driven and there was movement away from faculty driving the curriculum.  Participants will also discuss the necessity to maintain faculty control of the curriculum.
