Barry Vaughan reported that he was still working on this issue. He reminded Council that new Governing Board policy was created to put into international study abroad courses and these courses should meet the same contact hours as regular courses. The statement in parenthesis in the new policy contradicts the language placed before it. "The total number of contact hours awarded must be exactly that which is officially required for the course (1 credit requires at least 15 hours of classroom or other supervised instruction)." There was controversy regarding the need for clarification whether one instructional unit or contact hour was 50 minutes or 60 minutes (1 hour).
