Barry Vaughan reported on the following items:
Faculty Transfers - Some colleges, due to declining enrollment, have faculty who are having trouble making their load. It is rumored that some departments may not have any load in the near future. The issue is now regarding faculty transfers. Barry reported that an ad hoc committee has been formed to gather data, review the facts concluded from the data, and discuss what needs to be done regarding faculty transfers. A point was made that a procedure needs to be in place to take care of residential faculty. Barry was asked how this situation is related to a RIF (Reduction In Force). Barry replied that a RIF deals with termination and who goes first, but this is about transferring faculty from one college to another. Council discussed the committee. Barry said that the committee was trying to gather the data and facts and make the situation the best for all parties. Barry stated that the committee was hoping to have something in place by January. Council discussed the seniority issue. Barry said that he would get the report and bring it to Council for input. He said it was appropriate for Presidents to talk to their senates about this issue to make them aware of it. Reyes' father passed away. Details on his services will be sent to Council shortly.
