Council reviewed copies of a proposed change to the Common Pages regarding students who owe money to the District. Barry Vaughan stated that the current language was restrictive because it moves students with debt directly into collections; they cannot enroll in new classes; etc. The proposed language would soften by changing the word "will" to "may" and makes the policy more student friendly, which is important in an atmosphere of declining enrollment. A motion was made and seconded to approve the language change to the Common Pages. A vote was taken, and the motion passed unanimously. A point was made to inquire whether FEC's Common Pages representatives knew about this proposed change.
