FEC Chooses Jamieson and Gutierrez for Lobbyist

By Alan Haffa, PC

After an advertised search and interview process, Jamieson and Gutierrez was chosen to represent the Faculty
Association.  The firm has a demonstrated record of successful advocacy for a wide array of organizations over the past 15 years.  Some of their other clients include America West, Boys and Girls Club of Arizona, Fiesta Bowl, City of Tempe, Phoenix Suns Limited Partnership/Arizona Diamondbacks, and several Native American tribes including the Hopi, Pascua Yaqui, and White Mountain Apache.  The MCCCD Faculty Association is their only education provider client and this is desirable in order to avoid conflict of interest.  The firm is knowledgeable about all aspects of Arizona public policy and has a good reputation with Arizona legislators.

The each member of the Jamieson and Gutierrez team brings a unique talent and background.  Gary Husk, the President, has had a distinguished career in law enforcement and law, working as a prosecutor for the Pinal County Attorney, Deputy Chief of the Criminal Section for the US Attorney, and the Chief Counsel of the DEA for the Arizona Attorney General.  He has also served as the Director of the Arizona Department of Gaming.  He is a member of the State Bar of Arizona and a member of the Board of Directors of the Hispanic Bar Association.  Janet Regner, a partner, has extensive experience in public policy and community development.  She has worked on behalf of homeless issues and consumer rights.   In 2000, the National Fuel Fund Network awarded her with the Sister Pat Kelley award because of her efforts on behalf of low-income people.  John MacDonald, a partner, has worked as the Communications and Public Affairs Officer for the Arizona Supreme Court Administrative Office of the Courts, was the Public Affairs Director for the AZ Attorney General's Office, and from April 1997 to April 2000 wrote a biweekly column about politics and government for
The Arizona Republic.  Rose Canchola, a partner, is active in planning media relations, communications, and advertising for the firm where her bilingual and bicultural talents are very valuable.  She was appointed to the Board of the City of Phoenix Arts Commission and she is a member of the Hispanic Community Forum and the Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

Jamieson Gutierrez offers faculty extensive experience and knowledge of the legislative process, has a proven track record of successful advocacy and media relations, and is well respected by everyone connected with public policy in the state.
