Workshop to address emotions that can impact job-search success

Individuals who experience loss of employment, reduction in position or a layoff can undergo emotional swings such as a loss of confidence that potentially could undermine their success in searching for a new job.

Glendale Community College (GCC) and the Southwest Job Network (SJN) seek to help individuals develop a winning attitude and make their job search successful through a workshop titled "Module 1: Manage the Emotions of a Career Transition and Develop Your Vision."

The event is scheduled from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 28, in Room 104 of the Student Union on GCC's main campus. Open networking, a SJN new-participant orientation and a resume review are scheduled for the first half hour, followed by the presentation at 6 p.m. Students and community members are welcome to attend, and attire is business casual.

Because of limited seating capacity, registration is required and can be completed online at sjn-wv-emotions-09282009.eventbrite.com. Walk-ins will be seated on a space-available basis only. Registrants are asked to park in Lot S1 immediately west of the campus entrance at 61st and West Olive avenues. Overflow parking will be accommodated in the S2 lot east of that intersection.

Participants can go to www.box.net/shared/y9lq4y01j9 to download and print a copy of the workbook. This initial module sets the foundation for the rest of SJN's curriculum.

Questions can be directed via email to info@southwestjobnet.com or by leaving a voice message at 480.513.1491.
