Estrella Mountain Community College News Briefs

Avondale, Arizona – October 23, 2009 –

EMCC Nursing Program is Recommended for 8-Year Re-Accreditation

Estrella Mountain Community College's Nursing program was originally approved by the Arizona Board of Nursing in March 2006 and added as a site of the MCCCD Nursing Program by the National League for Nursing Accreditation Commission (NLNAC) in 2007. The program was due for re-accreditation by the NLNAC in October 2009 and Estrella Mountain Community College was notified this week by the accreditation team that the program has been recommended for an 8-year re-accreditation, the maximum allowed by the NLNAC. The college anticipates an official announcement of approval from the NLNAC in March 2010.

This articulated career program is designed to prepare students for immediate professional employment as Registered Nurses once candidates meet the Board of Nursing requirements and pass the national examination. Many of EMCC's graduates are employed in the West Valley area and meet the community's need for nurses.
