Women's basketball coach to host tournament, clinic
Basketball enthusiasts of various ages have opportunities to participate in two activities in November on the campus of Glendale Community College (GCC).
Players 18 and older seeking competition on the court are invited by new Glendale Community College (GCC) women's basketball Coach Timi Brown to test their skills in a 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament scheduled for 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, in the GCC Gymnasium.
Teams can be coed and have up to five players in the single open-age-division tournament. Cost for the event is $75 per team with advance registration or $100 at the door. Proceeds benefit the GCC women's basketball program.

For girls in grades 3 through 8, Coach Brown will conduct a Thanksgiving skills clinic from 8 a.m. to 12 noon Saturday, Nov. 28, in the GCC Gymnasium. Check-in and free shooting begins at 7:30 a.m. The participation fee is $40, and the first 50 participants receive a free basketball.
The coach will conduct drills based on group skill levels in ball handling, passing, footwork, lay-up, shooting and defense.

Coach Brown took over as head coach of the GCC women's basketball program this season. A former star at the University of Arizona who held records for single-game scoring and most career points, she has 12 years of coaching experience at the high-school and college levels.
