Maricopa Colleges Showcase Transfer Opportunities



The Maricopa Community Colleges will spotlight transfer opportunities for its students during the fifth annual Transfer Awareness Week, set to begin Monday, March 24 with information sessions for faculty, staff and university partners at Rio Salado College.

Maricopa Community College students will get the chance to visit with Maricopa's transfer partners Tuesday through Thursday, March 25-27 at a trio of Maricopa Community College locations.

Transfer Awareness Week 2008 is designed to provide information about transfer and create opportunities for students, faculty and advisors to meet with Maricopa's transfer partners. More than 30 higher education institutions will be present during the week, including the state's public universities. All sessions are free for Maricopa students, faculty and staff.

March 24's kickoff activities at Rio Salado include two sessions on the Arizona Transfer Model, an overview session on Maricopa's transfer partnerships, and a luncheon and keynote address by Thomas Brown, a renowned education consultant who will present Academic and Social Integration of Transfer Students.

Maricopa Community College students will have the opportunity to learn about programs and services provided by Maricopa's transfer partners on Tuesday, March 25 at Estrella Mountain Community College; Wednesday, March 26 at Mesa Community College; and Thursday, March 27 at Glendale Community College.

More than 30 institutions of higher learning are planning to participate in Transfer Week, including, among others, Arizona's public universities, Columbia University, Idaho State University, New Mexico State University; Pennsylvania State University, Palmer College of Chiropractic, Rochester Institute of Technology/National Technical Institute for the Deaf, and Ottawa University.
