ACTION PLAN IDEAS for PSA WIGS 2007-2008
- Increase committed PS and PSA participation.
Purpose: The goal this year is not just to increase membership numbers, but to increase active participation in PSA and PSA activities. PSA can only thrive and achieve the most benefit to PS employees if we all get involved. There is strength in numbers. If we want our voice to be heard, then we need to be there for each other in an active way.
Action Plan Ideas
- Increase dues paying membership at campus and district-wide level
- Encourage PS employees to commit to PSA by becoming directly involved either on a campus or district-wide level. Better attendance at meetings.
- Participation in leadership training available through MCCCD
- Promote PSA leadership development and training
Purpose: The best way to keep a group of people from achieving their highest goals is to keep them uneducated and afraid. As PS employees we need to take advantage of every learning opportunity possible – whether it is through PSD, PSI, PEL, PSA Meetings, EOLT, MOSAIC, etc. Participation in programs like Navigate Maricopa not only help to prepare us for upward mobility, but also give us the tools to understand management’s role as it relates to PSA. Knowledge is power, ignorance is not bliss.

- Create a 360 Degree communication environment.
Purpose: Last year we increased our communication, but this year we want to create a 360 Degree communication circle. We want to share the good news and the not so good news. You let us know your concerns and hopes for PSA and yourself and the Executive Board and your Campus/Unit Board will share our concerns and hopes with you, as well. We also want to communicate with other employee groups so we can all plan our meetings and events so that the maximum number of employees can benefit.

- Website updates (campus and district)
- Share Good News with PS ees (add web link)
- “Did You Know” monthly memos regarding PSA Policy and PSA Constitution
- Share budget planning info as it becomes available
- Communicate PSA Goals and Concerns with Unit Presidents/Chancellors to create buy-in (via Executive Board memos)
- Communicate goals and dates of activities with other constituency groups (i.e. WLG, AACHE, etc) and ALL-CPD
- Create and post a timeline for goals and stay on target
- Create compelling scoreboards for goals/post on the web and update on agenda.
