Maricopa Community Colleges

Public Stewardship

Public Stewardship is everyone‘s responsibility
Every Maricopa employee is a public steward

As an institution of higher learning that also is a political subdivision of the state, we have great responsibilities for which we are held accountable. From students and their families, to taxpayers and state lawmakers, the people who depend on us to fulfill our primary mission of teaching and learning rely on us to do so by using the resources entrusted to us efficiently and honestly.

The Maricopa Community Colleges have a national reputation for providing excellence in educational programs and services. We can all be proud of the high caliber work we do.

Our Governing Board now asks that we take additional steps to illustrate to our many publics that we are making thoughtful decisions each day that demonstrate reliable public stewardship.

Training and disclosure are important parts of this effort. By completing the two public stewardship training courses we improve our understanding of the District policies by which we must abide. Reviewing and filling out the disclosures and acknowledgements increase understanding of our policies and provide transparency. I have completed the training and disclosures, and urge you to complete the courses and disclosures for which you are responsible.

Public stewardship is one of my three strategic goals for Maricopa, and I communicate regularly about it as a result. From now on, you‘ll be able to access all of those messages here.

Our constituents continue to place their confidence in us. Training and disclosure will demonstrate to them that they have every reason to continue to do so.
