“I wanted to be here but I didn’t have the money. I wanted to be in college so bad I registered when I didn’t have the money and then I asked financial aid for a payment extension and started working at the Jack in the Box.”

Employee Recognition Program
The Maricopa Community Colleges Foundation
Board of Directors
wishes to congratulate
the honorees of the
2008 Employee Recognition Program
The Maricopa Community Colleges Foundation sponsors an annual program to recognize employees within the Maricopa Community College District who have made outstanding contributions to advance the mission of the District. Each year (5) $1,000 awards are given to an individual or team of employees, which in turn is awarded in the recipient's name as a scholarship to a Maricopa Community College student.
The 2008 Employee Recognition Award Recipients are:
Dee Dee Denslow - Glendale Community College North
Dee Dee Denslow is the epitome of a career shaped at Glendale Community College (GCC). A 1987 graduate of GCC, Ms. Denslow began her association with the Maricopa Community College in 1986 as a clerk typist and worked her way up to Admissions and Records Coordinator, to her current position of Associate Dean in 2001. She believes in the value of teamwork, which is evident in her associations with students, employees, and members of the larger community. Ms. Denslow is active in a variety of civic organizations and currently monitors the North Campus expansion with a fall 2008 completion date.
Dee Duggan - Scottsdale Community College
For nearly 24 years, Dee Duggan has made SCC a better place, first as coordinator of Disability Resources, and later as Diversity Coordinator. Over the years, Dee has tirelessly demonstrated leadership, increasing awareness of diversity issues, expanding our campus definition of “diversity” to include social class, health status, cognitive and physical ability, sexual orientation and more. Dee creates valuable links between our campus and the community we serve through her volunteer projects with organizations such as the Chrysalis Shelter and the Mayor’s Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities. She promotes campus-wide consciousness through events of her own design for World AIDS Day, Mothers Against Drunk Driving, Black History Month and many more. Dee has inspired our campus by transcending her own physical challenges to become one of our most admired and revered human resources. She embodies the spirit and mission of Maricopa.
Sally Hervey - Glendale Community College
Sally Hervey has a long association with Glendale Community College—first as a student, then with the Office of Student Life, and she is currently the Administrative Assistant for the Business and Information Technology Department. With a strong work ethic and solid people skills, Sally has found a way to attend to the needs of students, faculty, and the administration. Sally does an outstanding job performing her duties while taking on several leadership roles that benefit our college community. While working, she has completed a baccalaureate degree and has almost completed her master’s degree. Sally is truly an outstanding employee and worthy of recognition.
Elaine Moe - Scottsdale Community College
It is with great pleasure and desire that I must nominate Professor Elaine Moe. Her work as a teacher, a theatre director and a mentor has prepared me and a number of my classmates for successful careers in the professional world. Her passion, structured teaching, dedication to the theatre, its students and staff solidify her position as one of the most revered faculty members at SCC. Never confined to school hours, Professor Moe’s dedication to the very best formation of SCC theatre students has led many of us who have had the privilege to be taught by her to win national awards, district contests and gained field recognition by our peers.
Chris Schnick - Chandler-Gilbert Community College
Since 1997, as a residential English Faculty member at Chandler Gilbert Community College, Chris Schnick has distinguished himself as an extraordinary and innovative faculty member and leader on campus, throughout the district, in the community, and around the nation. He has been an active leader in the college’s initiatives in service learning, learning communities, civic engagement, and global education, using them as a part of his curriculum and serving tirelessly on college and district committees to advance these initiatives with others. As the CGCC faculty development coordinator, he schedules and facilitates workshops, guest speakers, panels, symposiums, and campus events throughout the academic year for faculty and students. In collaboration with the Maricopa Center for Learning and Instruction Faculty Development Committee, he develops and facilitates dialogue days, summer institutes, and convocation events. As a co-leader of the CGCC Shared Futures Grant team, Chris has collaborated with educators on the national level in global learning.
