Harry Valenzuela Garewal, Jr.
Mr.
Garewal has over 23 years of accumulated experience in operations and
quality management for Fortune 500, aerospace, manufacturing and small
defense contracting companies. Currently, Mr. Garewal is the President/CEO
of the Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce
and brings a wealth of experience with both private and public sector
development teams.
Prior to his current position, Mr. Garewal spent
several years working with the City of Phoenix on economic development,
private development and redevelopment projects funded by the Federal Housing
and Urban Development Department (HUD), providing him with an extensive
background on the redevelopment of urban core areas. He developed, implemented
and administered a HUD Program to provide technical assistance for start-up
and existing small businesses, piloted workforce development, and job
linkage model programs. Mr. Garewal provides consulting assistance to
clients in economic, small business and workforce development, strategic
planning, assets management, implementation of marketing strategies, financial
packaging, and relationship networking within four Southwestern states.
In 2002, Mr. Garewal won his fourth election
for the Phoenix Union High School Board of Education. Mr. Garewal served
as the Arizona School Board Association President from 2001-2002. He was
elected 2001-2002 President of the National School Boards Association
(NSBA) Pacific Region Board of Directors. He served on the NSBA Executive
Committee and was NSBA 2000-2001 President of the Hispanic Caucus. Mr.
Garewal was elected for the 2001-2004 term of the NSBA Council of Urban
Boards of Education (CUBE) Steering Committee. In 2003, he was elected
Vice Chair of CUBE. Mr. Garewal sits on several community and business
executive boards in the Phoenix metro area where he has lived since 1970.
