Veteran's Servicesgi_bill

The new GI Bill (Chapter 33) boasts the most comprehensive education benefits package since the original GI Bill was signed into law in 1944. This new benefit does not go into effect until August 1, 2009. The new bill goes well beyond helping to pay for tuition; many veterans who served after Sept. 11, 2001, will get :

1. Full tuition and fees
2. A new monthly housing stipend
3. A $1,000 a year stipend for
books and supplies

The new bill also gives Reserve and Guard members who have been activated for more than 90 days since 9/11 access to the same GI Bill benefits. Click here for more info

Minority Male Initiativemale_grad

National research indicates that Minority Males are not attending and/or graduating from college at the same rate as their female or Caucasian male counterparts. A multitude of colleges and universities around the country have developed programs and initiatives to increase opportunities for access and success of this critical population. Maricopa Community College District is no exception.

For the past few years, the colleges have developed leadership groups and activities specifically for minority males such as GateWay’s Minority Male Leadership Group and Estrella Mountain’s Minority Male Forums. Click here for more info
