Expectations of Transfer Partners and Visiting Institutions
As a Maricopa transfer partner institution, you are encouraged to help Maricopa students understand their transfer options and opportunities during Transfer Week. Additionally, it is also important to help students understand the value of completing an Associates degree as part of their academic pathway. Benefits include:
- The cost of the Associates degree program is about half of the cost of the first two years in a four-year college or university.
- Smaller class sizes allow teachers to assist the student when needed.
- The more credits a student transfers from Maricopa, the more hours earned and the higher his or her GPA the first semester enrolled.
- Guarantees admission into Maricopa’s partner institutions.
- Prepares you academically to enter into university programs.
- Helps assure a seamless transition by maximizing the applicability and transferability of your academic credits.
- Provides a transfer plan to a four-year college or university.
- Helps to qualify for a job or promotion.
- Helps to qualify for tuition discounts and scholarships at Maricopa partner institutions.
Other tips for transfer partners:
- Include a university student ambassador as part of your team
- Bring table skirts, giveaways,
university information and literature, etc. (Additionally,
it is recommended that institutions bring any wireless equipment as power may not be
provided at all of the colleges)
- Encourage students to work with their community college advisor
- Promote baccalaureate degree programs (no Associate degree programs and information should be given to students unless it's Maricopa Associate degree information)
- Attend both the daytime and evening college events
- Register your institution earlier to ensure inclusion in Transfer Week publications.
