WOMEN HONORED FOR LEADERSHIP, INNOVATION AND SERVICE
Maricopa Community Colleges name “Women of Distinction”

Leadership, innovation, service to women along with service to the Maricopa Community Colleges are the key characteristics for the winners of the Distinguished Achievement Award, an annual honor sponsored by the Women’s Leadership Group/American Association of Women in Community Colleges (WLG/AAWCC) of the Maricopa Community Colleges.

The eleven "Women of Distinction" for 1999 and their colleges were:

  • Kathy Saucedo, CIS Faculty, Chandler-Gilbert Community College
  • Rea Abernathy-Bennett, Director of Resource Development, District Office
  • Dr. Anna Solley, Dean of Instruction, Estrella Mountain Community College
  • Gail Shay, Chair of Liberal Arts/ESL, GateWay Community College
  • Sherry Johnson, Director of the Children's Center, Glendale Community College
  • Pam Olerich, Women's Basketball Coach, Mesa Community College
  • Dr. Mary Lou Mosley, Associate Dean of Instruction, Paradise Valley Community College
  • Annette Duran, Director of International Student Center, Phoenix College
  • Karen Mills, Senior Associate Dean of Instruction, Rio Salado College
  • Althea Long, Coordinator, Marketing & Public Relations, Scottsdale Community College
  • Lara Collins, Communications Faculty , South Mountain Community College
