"Women of Distinction" for 2002
WOMEN
HONORED FOR LEADERSHIP, INNOVATION AND SERVICE Leadership, innovation, service to women along with service to the Maricopa Community Colleges are the key characteristics for the winners of the Distinguished Achievement Award, an annual honor sponsored by the Womens Leadership Group/American Association of Women in Community Colleges (WLG/AAWCC) of the Maricopa Community Colleges.
The twelve Women of Distinction for 2002 and their colleges are:
Arnette Scott Ward, who is retiring from her post as President of Chandler-Gilbert Community College, and Glendale Community College President Tessa Martinez-Pollack, who is leaving to become the President of Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, Texas, were also honored for their service to the district and the community. Chancellor of the Maricopa Community Colleges, Dr. Fred Gaskin, along with Governing Board Member Linda Rosenthal and Kay Martens, Dean of Administrative Services at South Mountain Community College and Co-Chair elect of the Womens Leadership Group, presented the awards. Emily Weinacker and Nancy Larrick currently Co-Chair the Women's Leadership Group. The luncheon was held at Estrella Mountain Community College.
