"Women of Distinction" for 2003

WOMEN HONORED FOR LEADERSHIP, INNOVATION AND SERVICE
Maricopa Community Colleges name “Women of Distinction”

Twelve women from the Maricopa Community Colleges have been named "Women of Distinction" for their leadership and service. The distinguished achievement honor is designed to recognize the contributions of women throughout the district who particularly dedicate service to women and the colleges.

The Women's Leadership Group/American Association of Women in Community Colleges of the Maricopa Community Colleges sponsors the annual event.

"Women of Distinction" for 2003

The twelve “Women of Distinction” for 2003 and their colleges are:

  • Janet L. Ortega, Administrative Assistant, Chandler-Gilbert Community College
  • Dr. Patricia M. Honzay, Director of Employee and Organizational Development, District Office
  • Patty Barrington, Coordinator of Computer Services, Estrella Mountain Community College
  • Dr. Jolyne Ghanatabadi, Dean of Instruction, GateWay Community College
  • Carmela Arnoldt, English Faculty, Glendale Community College
  • Barbara Fierro, Nursing Coordinator, Maricopa Skill Center
  • Joni Grover, Director of Financial Aid, Mesa Community College
  • Cathy Hart, Associate Dean of Information Technology, Paradise Valley Community College
  • Mitra Mehraban, Director of Instructional Support Services and Student Development, Phoenix College
  • Jo Jorgenson, Director of Community Education/Community Services, Rio Salado College
  • Dee Duggan, Coordinator of Disability Resources and Services, Scottsdale Community College
  • Helen Smith, Mathematics Faculty, South Mountain Community College

Chancellor of the Maricopa Community Colleges, Dr. Fred Gaskin, Governing Board Member Linda Rosenthal and Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs, Dr. Anna Solley presented the awards at a luncheon hosted by Mesa Community College. Emily Weinacker, Co-chair elect of the Women’s Leadership Group and Linn Taylor, Co-chair of the organization emceed the program.
