According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, over half of the fastest growing occupations nationwide in the next decade will be in the health services sector. Demand for workers in the Greater Phoenix region is strong, and many occupations in health services industries provide above average wages. The region’s fast growing population, combined with an overall aging population, will lead to more demand for these occupations in the coming years.

The Maricopa Community Colleges offer over 30 degrees and programs in nursing and allied health fields such as EMT, pharmacy, dentistry, medical office, and medical technology. Maricopa’s commitment to health services education has led it to create the Health Care Integrated Educational System (HCIES) within its division of Academic Affairs. HCIES is responsible for coordinating district-wide health services initiatives and working with the local healthcare community to meet workforce needs.
