Virtual Incident Command Center Trains First Responders

In the 10 years since the 9/11 terrorist attacks, communities all over the United States have increased security measures and preparedness training.

First responders from around the state now have a new tool to learn the latest technologies in incident management. The Virtual Incident Command Center (VICC), located at Mesa Community College’s Downtown Center, trains emergency management, planning, mitigation, and response personnel from civilian and government agencies. GateWay Opens Technology Incubator

The Center for Entrepreneurial Innovation at Gateway Community College officially opened its doors February 1.  Supported by private and public funding, the new facility offers cutting-edge space for innovative entrepreneurs. It is designed to house and develop early stage companies – service, technology, manufacturing, renewable energy – by providing business and professional resources, such as guidance and mentoring, and exposure to a network of local businesses and professionals, among others. Maricopa Community Colleges Receive Grant for Precision Manufacturing

The Maricopa Community Colleges have received a $286,000 grant from the Arizona Department of Economic Security to improve the pipeline of workers to regional manufacturers.

The Arizona Precision Manufacturing Apprenticeship Program (AzPMAP) will create a sustainable formal path for workers to enter the green manufacturing field resulting in a steady flow of top quality candidates to the local manufacturing community. Read More
