  1. why? required for Y2K readiness and fits within the District Office long-term NT Server strategic direction.
  2. issue.. We were waiting on hardware delivery, but the hardware has arrived.
  3. Staffing with other projects is always an issue of setting priorities.

District Office Novell/Netware Servers

The District Office is bringing Novell servers up to Netware version 5.0 from versions 4.11 and 3.12? There are four Netware servers at the District Office.

  1. No systems updated at this time.
  2. All servers to be completed on or before Dec 1999.
  3. This activity requires planning and coordination, which is underway.
  4. Rio is within the MCCCD tree, which required some conflict resolution prior to District Office upgrades. The Rio Salado conflict issues have been resolved and completed.
why? Y2K readiness required. Netware 3.12 could be made Y2K ready with a multitude of patches, but the hardware itself could impose a problem. For these reasons, Dist Office has chosen to move to 5.0 and some upgraded hardware, which is in the best interest for District Office strategic positioning.

District Office's Novell Server's are on service pack 6, which is Y2K ready. The Y2K hardware issues for these servers have not been looked at yet. If BIOS or other Y2K requirements found, the necessary corrections will be applied. The reason for moving to 5.0 is to gain the ability to utilize the enhanced clustering services.

issue.. We were waiting on hardware delivery, but the hardware has arrived.

Staffing with other projects is always an issue of setting priorities.
