One-stop career centers

Workforce Development works closely with the public workforce system in Maricopa County to assist in the delivery of services for the ARIZONA@WORK City of Phoenix and Maricopa County One-Stop Career Centers.

Every year, the one-stops refer students for training with Maricopa Community Colleges. The Center for Workforce Development collects data on these referrals, such as the numbers of clients and funds obligated, for optimal recruiting.

The department also maintains an active partnership with the Local Workforce Investment Boards. These boards plan and oversee the local workforce system including activities such as:


  • Identifying providers of training services.
  • Monitoring system performance against established performance measures.
  • Negotiating local performance measures with the state board and the Governor.
  • Helping develop the labor market information system.
