The Maricopa Community Colleges' Center for Civic Participation (CCP) seeks to enrich public life and public discourse on our Maricopa Community College campuses and in our communities. The Center also serves to promote effective practices that support Maricopa's mission relating to community education and civic responsibility.

    Maricopa Community College District’s 10 colleges are members of The Democracy Commitment, a national initiative that encourages community colleges across the country to engage students in civic learning and democratic practices.

    The Civic Toolbox is a collection of resources for conducting voter outreach and education, voter registration, and voter turnout activities.

    The Center for Civic Participation holds public forums throughout the year on policy issues of concern to the community. These forums are led by a panel of policy makers and subject matter experts and include opportunities for audience participation as well as question/answer sessions.

    The Center for Civic Participation offers Moderator Trainings throughout the year. Participants learn how to organize and moderate community forums, and how to engage citizens in public dialogue.

    The Student Public Policy Forum (SPPF) is an academic program that provides an overview of local, state, and national public policy making, and citizen influence and involvement. The program focuses on experiential learning and leadership development through engagement in the public policy process.
