Image Consultant

The Certificate of Completion (CCL) in Image Consultant is designed for students with an interest in Image Consulting. Students learn clothing strategies for all figure types, appropriate dress for all occasions, nutrition, and interpersonal skills. They develop the ability to advise clients and groups for an acceptable image. Completers of this certificate will have interned with a nationally certified Image Consultant through the Association of Image Consultants, International (AICI), for a minimum of 480 hours. They may then apply for accreditation from AICI.

  2. Utilize effective oral and written communication skills appropriate to image consulting.
  3. Examine the effect of healthy living on body image and well-being.
  4. Assess the psychological, aesthetic, and economic factors that affect clothing choices and behaviors in world cultures and the global fashion industry.
  5. Select specific merchandise will satisfy the needs and wants of potential customers.
  6. Identify fabric and performance characteristics to guide consumers in selecting and caring for apparel.
  7. Select appropriate wardrobes a diverse range of clients.
  8. Analyze quality differences of ready-to-wear apparel.
  9. Perform assigned career duties in a work setting.

Course Sequence by Term

The following is the suggested course sequence by term. Please keep in mind:

  • Students should meet with an academic advisor to develop an individual education plan that meets their academic and career goals. Use the Pathway Planner tool in your Student Center to manage your plan.
  • The course sequence is laid out by suggested term and may be affected when students enter the program at different times of the year.
  • Initial course placement is determined by current district placement measures and/or completion of 100-200 level course and/or program requirements.
  • Degree and transfer seeking students may be required to successfully complete a MCCCD First Year Experience Course (FYE) within the first two semesters at a MCCCD College. Courses include FYE101 and FYE103. Course offerings will vary by college. See an academic, program, or faculty advisor for details.
