Nina Mason Pulliam Legacy Scholars Program

Popularly referred to as the Nina Scholars Program, this program makes scholarships available to qualifying students at all of the Maricopa Community Colleges. The Nina Scholars Program provides a unique opportunity for students from disadvantaged backgrounds to obtain the resources and financial assistance needed to successfully complete their college education. The Nina Scholars Program covers full tuition, fees, books/supplies, and provides a living stipend to scholarship recipients. The program also provides scholars with an academic mentor, peer mentor, and alumni mentor to support them in their journey.

What Does it Mean to Be a Nina Scholar?

Scholarship Eligibility

The Nina Scholars program serves students who meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • Is an adult who has one or more dependents in their household
  • Is an adult with a physical disability
  • Is an adult, age 18-25, who has experienced foster care or been disconnected from their parents or primary caregiver and is responsible for their own financial support

About the Nina Trust

Mission

The Nina Mason Pulliam Charitable Trust serves as the primary funding source for the Nina Mason Pulliam Legacy Scholars Program. It also provides grants to help people in need, especially women, children, and families; to protect animals and nature; and to enrich community life in the metropolitan areas of Indianapolis and Phoenix.

History of the Trust

The Nina Mason Pulliam Charitable Trust was established upon the death of Nina Mason Pulliam on March 26, 1997, to support the causes she loved in her home states of Arizona and Indiana. In 2001, the Trust established the Nina Mason Pulliam Legacy Scholars program in tribute to the life and values of its benefactress. Participating schools are Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI), Ivy Tech State College — Indianapolis Campus, Arizona State University (ASU), and Maricopa Community Colleges.
