What is the AGEC?
The AGEC is a block of general education courses offered at all Arizona community colleges. Successfully completing the AGEC ensures these courses (up to 35 hours) transfer seamlessly to Arizona State University (ASU), Northern Arizona University (NAU), and the University of Arizona (U of A). Its key benefits include:
- Guaranteed Admission: Complete the AGEC with a 2.5 GPA or higher, and you are guaranteed admission to ASU, NAU, and U of A.
- Effortless Transfer: Courses transfer as a block, making it easier to transition to a university.
- Statewide Accessibility: The AGEC is available at all community colleges across Arizona.
Why is the AGEC Changing?
The AGEC is being reimagined to provide a more streamlined and flexible transfer experience, going from three general education blocks down to one. These changes aim to better align the curriculum with the needs of students and Arizona’s public universities. Maricopa Community Colleges is currently in the process of developing its redesigned Arizona General Education Curriculum (AGEC) within the guidelines provided by AZTransfer.
