Aircraft Maintenance Technology
The Certificate of Completion (CCL) in Aircraft Maintenance Technology prepares students to enter careers in aircraft, fixed-wing and rotorcraft, and structural manufacturing and maintenance. Graduates can potentially work in general, corporate, commercial, manufacturing, and military sectors. Students who complete the certificate are eligible to apply for relevant Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) written, oral, and practical exams. This certificate is fully embedded in the Associate in Applied Science (AAS) in Aircraft Maintenance Technology.
Details
Students wishing to enroll in this certificate program must complete an application process before being officially accepted into the program.
Students must earn a grade of C or better in all courses within the program.
- Utilize inspection and diagnostic techniques to maintain aircraft and aircraft power plants.
- Service aircraft and aircraft power plants to industry and regulatory standards.
- Repair aircraft and aircraft power plants to industry and regulatory standards.
- Overhaul aircraft and aircraft power plants to industry and regulatory standards.
- Practice industry and regulatory standards required for professional and ethical behavior.
- Mitigate human factors risk in aircraft maintenance operations.
- Employ common safety practices when working on and around aircraft and related support equipment.
- Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills specific to aviation maintenance concepts and technical processes.
- Prepare for airframe and/or power plant written, oral, and practical exams.

The following is the suggested course sequence by term. Please keep in mind:

- Initial course placement is determined by current district placement measures and/or completion of 100-200 level course and/or program requirements.
- Degree and transfer seeking students may be required to successfully complete a MCCCD First Year Experience Course (FYE) within the first two semesters at a MCCCD College.
