Aircraft Maintenance Technology-Powerplant
The Certificate of Completion (CCL) in Aircraft Maintenance Technology-Powerplant is designed to prepare students to enter careers in aircraft (fixed-wing and rotorcraft) powerplant manufacturing and maintenance. Students who complete this certificate can potentially work in general, corporate, commercial, manufacturing, and military sectors. Graduates are eligible to apply for relevant Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) written, oral, and practical exams. An Associate in Applied Science (AAS) in Aircraft Maintenance Technology-Powerplant is also available.
Details
Appropriate District placement into the following: (MAT12+ or MAT14+) and ENG101 and CRE101.
Students must earn a grade of C or better in all courses within the program.
- Utilize inspection and diagnostic techniques to maintain aircraft engines.
- Service aircraft engines to industry and regulatory standards.
- Repair aircraft engines to industry and regulatory standards.
- Practice industry and regulatory standards required for professional and ethical behavior.
- Demonstrate the ability to identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with aircraft maintenance operations.
- Employ safety practices when working on and around aircraft and related support equipment.
- Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills specific to aircraft maintenance documentation, concepts, and technical processes.
- Analyze various aircraft maintenance discrepancies to generate applicable solutions.
- Prepare for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) written, oral, and practical certification exams.
