Biomedical Equipment Technology
The Certificate of Completion (CCL) in Biomedical Equipment Technology program introduces students to the technical knowledge and skills needed for entry level positions troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining biomedical equipment used by hospitals, clinics, home healthcare providers, and medical device manufacturers and repair companies. Coursework includes the study of electronics, networking, information security, human anatomy and physiology, regulatory, and healthcare delivery systems.

Students must earn a grade of C or better in all courses within the program.

- Apply methods and analytical skills to test, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electronic and biomedical equipment.
- Describe various human physiological processes and how they can be measured, diagnosed, and documented by medical devices and systems.
- Demonstrate knowledge of electronic components, circuits, and instruments and how they function at a systems-level.
- Use principles of computer hardware and software, network architecture, wireless technology, and information security in embedded systems.
- Utilize effective written skills in the preparation of technical reports.
- Demonstrate basic knowledge required for meeting professional standards and regulatory and safety requirements related to the field.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with customers, peers, clinical staff, and other members of the healthcare team.

Course Sequence by Term
The following is the suggested course sequence by term. Please keep in mind:

- Initial course placement is determined by current district placement measures and/or completion of 100-200 level course and/or program requirements.
- Degree and transfer seeking students may be required to successfully complete a MCCCD First Year Experience Course (FYE) within the first two semesters at a MCCCD College.
