The Certificate of Completion (CCL) in Fundamentals of Applied Molecular Bioscience-Level 1 is designed to prepare students for entry-level positions in support of biological research, medical diagnostics and biomanufacturing. Includes training in the operation of laboratory equipment and high-end instrumentation, computational biology, designing experimental protocols, data collection and analysis.

This is a Fast Track Certificate, which can be completed in two semesters or less.

BIO156++ or BIO181++ recommended as a prerequisite or corequisite to Semester 1.

  • Accurately perform basic scientific calculations and measurements routinely used in biology and chemistry laboratories.
  • Follow written protocols and standard operating procedures to conduct controlled scientific investigations including accurately, maintaining a laboratory notebook, analyzing and interpreting data, and reporting results and conclusions effectively in written, graphical, and oral formats.
  • Conduct single and multivariable experiments with accurate documentation of methodology, results and appropriate statistical analyses.
  • Troubleshoot unanticipated investigative problems by consulting with others, critically analyzing methodology used, revising procedure as necessary and/or seeking alternative strategies to test the hypothesis.
  • Demonstrate the skills needed to work effectively in a diverse team environment, including the ability to clearly communicate with peers from a variety of backgrounds and levels of experience, collaborate with others and act as a productive contributor to effective group dynamics and the team’s project.
