Objective
Pamela Smith is a dedicated advocate for student interests and engagement. She aims to prioritize affordability and financial accessibility by working to expand scholarship opportunities, emergency grant funding, and tuition assistance programs. Ms. Smith is also committed to promoting transparency in student fees and reducing the cost of education by supporting the use of open educational resources in place of costly textbooks. She envisions increased access to mental health and wellness resources, the development of robust student leadership and engagement programs, and the cultivation of an inclusive, supportive environment for first-generation and non-traditional students. Additionally, she hopes to expand mentorship opportunities for students across all campuses. By leveraging her experience in advocacy and student governance, Ms. Smith is committed to driving meaningful change that serves the best interests of both the student body and the Maricopa Community Colleges system as a whole.
About
Pamela Smith is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Safety with a specialization in Administration of Justice. She is an honors student actively participating in the Student Leadership Programs and is committed to academic excellence and community involvement. Ms. Smith has engaged in numerous leadership and civic activities,including State Legislative Day at Phoenix Forge and the Student Empowerment Summit, while working closely with a variety of student clubs across the Maricopa Community Colleges system. Her passion for advocacy is matched by her commitment to hands-on service, from participating in street clean-ups to leading Party to the Polls, a student voting engagement initiative. She currently serves as the Phoenix College Student Senator, regularly attending meet-and-greet sessions with students to help foster meaningful connections and strengthen community spirit. With a diverse professional background in Human Resources and experience serving on boards, Ms. Smith brings a unique and valuable perspective to her contributions within the Maricopa Community Colleges System. She is also a proud U.S.Army Veteran, continuing to lead with purpose, service, and a deep sense of civic responsibility.
