Who We Are

Women Rising is designed to improve the retention and degree completion rates of minority female students.

Students in Women Rising will have opportunities to earn mastery in one or all three pillars each year of participation:

  1. Empowerment
  2. Leadership
  3. Sisterhood

Women Rising provides academic and professional success through:

  • Women Rising chapter meetings
  • Professional networking
  • Peer to peer networking
  • Academic involvement and support
  • Professional career development activities
  • Cultural events
  • University transfer support

Women Rising's Goals

  • Increase the access, support, and graduation/transfer rates of minority female students
  • Connect minority female students with academic, career, and professional support resources and services
  • Create a culture of success and empowerment among minority female students

  • Community events, including the NAACP Women’s Expo, Achieving My Purpose Women’s Circle, High Tea Gathering and Celebration of Women, and the AAUW Fall Forum and Unhappy Hour

  • Women Rising Induction
  • University Tours Volunteerism with organizations such as StreetLights USA and St. Vincent de Paul
