Service Learning

Service Learning

Service Learning is an educational, hands-on opportunity that combines community service with academic learning through Maricopa Community Colleges.

Service Learning lets you apply your coursework to real community needs through placements with community partners—often government agencies, educational associations, civic and non-profit organizations, or citizen advocacy groups.

Extending instruction beyond the classroom, these programs make the course material come alive, and can be a wonderful opportunity to explore career options, gain experience in your field of interest, and apply newly acquired knowledge in real-life situations.

Areas of focus include:

  • Critical thinking and problem solving
  • Social and personal development
  • Civic and community responsibility
  • Values clarification
  • Career exploration
